¿QUÉ DEBES SABER SOBRE EL ECLIPSE DEL 2026?

Se trata de un eclipse TOTAL de Sol. Esto significa que la Luna cubrirá por completo el disco solar, haciendo que se “haga de noche” en pleno día y revelando la espectacular corona solar. España es el principal destino en Europa para observarlo, con las mejores probabilidades de cielos despejados. Aunque España vivirá otros eclipses solares en 2027 y 2028ninguno será tan accesible y espectacular para la mayor parte de la península como este, el primero en más de un siglo.

La totalidad solo podrá observarse en una franja muy concreta que cruzará la península de oeste a este. Dada la baja altitud del Sol al atardecer (entre 1.4° y 12.5° sobre el horizonte) , es imprescindible elegir puntos específicos con horizontes completamente despejados hacia el oeste para una observación óptima.

El eclipse parcial comenzará aproximadamente a las 19:30h y la fase de totalidad alrededor de las 20:30h justo antes de la puesta de Sol. Esto significa que el Sol se ocultará aún eclipsado, creando un espectáculo visual único y mágico al atardecer. Además, el 12 de agosto coincide con el pico máximo de la lluvia de estrellas Perseidas, ofreciendo una noche doblemente especial.

Este evento es de tal magnitud que se espera una movilización masiva de personas de todo el mundo hacia España. El Gobierno español ha creado una Comisión Interministerial para coordinar este desafío logístico sin precedentes. España se convertirá en el epicentro mundial del astroturismo por unos días. What you need to know about the 2026 Total Solar Eclipse

This is a TOTAL Solar Eclipse. This means the Moon will completely cover the Sun’s disk, making it “turn to night” in broad daylight and revealing the spectacular solar corona. Spain is the main destination in Europe to observe it, with the best chances of clear skies. Although Spain will experience other solar eclipses in 2027 and 2028, none will be as accessible and spectacular for most of the peninsula as this one, the first in over a century.

Totality will only be visible within a very specific band crossing the peninsula from west to east. Given the Sun’s low altitude at sunset (between 1.4° and 12.5° above the horizon), it is essential to choose specific points with completely unobstructed horizons to the west for optimal observation.

The partial eclipse will begin approximately at 7:30 PM and the totality phase around 8:30 PM just before sunset. This means the Sun will set while still eclipsed, creating a unique and magical visual spectacle at dusk. Furthermore, August 12 coincides with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower , offering a night of double celestial wonder.

This event is of such magnitude that a massive mobilization of people from all over the world is expected towards Spain. The Spanish Government has created an Interministerial Commission to coordinate this unprecedented logistical challenge. Spain will become the world’s astrotourism epicenter for a few days. EclipsaFest 2025 reunió a 2000 personas en el campo de fútbol de Collado Mediano para ver un eclipse parcial. Contamos con multitud de telescopios solares, foodtrucks y actividades que fusionaron la ciencia del eclipse con la cultura local. Al día siguiente EclipsaFest Collado Mediano fue portada en el periódico El País.
EclipsaFest 2025 gathered 2,000 people at the Collado Mediano football field to watch a partial eclipse. We featured a multitude of solar telescopes, food trucks, and activities that fused the science of the eclipse with local culture. The next day, EclipsaFest Collado Mediano was featured on the front page of El País newspaper.
